DAILY DEVOTION: Hidden Manna For Today "Friday December 9th 2016"

DATE: Friday December 9th 2016.

TOPIC:                   Our Perspectives

MORNING: 1 Kings 3:17-27.

Our perspectives, judgements, opinions and views have crucial part to play in the way we see things purely from the human point of view. In case, our personalities, experiences, limitations, etc end up influencing our judgements. This is a lower level of functioning. To operate at a higher level in life, we must resolve to begin to see things differently. Seeing things from God's perspective will help us to make informed, sound and enduring decisions, as in the case of Solomon in our text. It took divine wisdom to judge right in a situation where two parties were laying claim to the same thing. Verse 22 says, "And the other woman said, nay; but then living is my son, and the dead is thy son, and the living living is my son. Thus they spake before the thing. "King Solomon's judgement was flawless and faultless because he chose to see through God's eyes. Thus King Solomon displayed a dimension of wisdom that was unprecedented when he presided over the case of the two harlots that were claiming ownership of the living child. Beloved, you too can act differently if you can change your perspective. This is why you must pray for the grace to begin see, reason and act like God. This is not possible by your power; lean on His divine ability to see you through. May God open the eyes of your understanding to begin to see as He sees. Amen! Have a nice weekend!

Prayer points: Start with praise/worship.
  1. Thank God for another new day and for His word.
  2. Pray that God will bless you with the spirit of wisdom and soundness of mind.
  3. Pray that God will help you to always make His word the basis for all your actions.
  4. Pray that the devil will not steal away that thing that serves as a source of joy to you.
  5. Pray that you will not live the kind of life that will amount to a waste of God's resources on you.

Evening: Luke 15:26-32.
Verse 29 of our text says, "And he answering said to his father; lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment; and yet thou neither gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends." When the prodigal son's father saw a repentant, help-needing, hope-requiring and promising child, his older brother saw a wasteful, rebellious and irresponsible fellow in his brother. If only the older brother was wise and discerning like the father. he would have seen otherwise. Many of us need to change our perspectives about others so that we'll begin to see the good in them.
