Treason: ‘Biafran released Chief Awolowo not Hausa-Fulani’ – IPOB‎ tells Yoruba critics

The indigenous people of Biafra IPOB has strongly kicked against ruling of the Judge of a Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice Binta Nyako, that its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and 3 others standing trial before her court would be ‎secretly tried.
The court had ordered that Kanu and his members be tried secretly over felony charges.‎

But IPOB said those calling for the secret trial of the embattled Kanu, especially the Yoruba folks should not forget that even the late Obafemi Awolowo was not secretly tried.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group insisted that they were tired of Nigerians and needed to have their freedom.
The statement reads in parts:
“Was Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s treason trial, (mind you not treasonable felony), conducted in public or secret? Another question you must answer is this, was the then Action Group and today’s IPOB the same? Which of the two do you consider more dangerous, in view of how the former spread anarchy through major Yoruba towns at the time? I put these questions to you in the hope that you are a student of history.
Some of you who forget that there is a discipline called history, it records major events of our lives and preserves such for posterity.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo was charged, tried in the open and convicted of the more serious charge of treason which is a capital offence. He was dumped in Calabar prison until Ojukwu released him.

Yes Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu an Igbo man and leader of Biafra granted pardon to Awolowo and released him to Yoruba people. It wasn’t Hausa Fulani North that released Chief Awolowo, it was a Biafran.
“This is IPOB! We deconstruct our enemies with facts and figures, that is why Nnamdi Kanu’s court case is a blessed opportunity for we Biafrans to lay bare before the world and human conscience everything wrong with the contraption called Nigeria and why it should not be one.
“Some of you who are internet rats in support of secret trial must know that the godfather of Yoruba politics Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a convicted felon and that is a tag Nnamdi Kanu can never be associated with.
“If Chief Awolowo that committed treason was tried in the public with full media attendance, how much more Nnamdi Kanu answering to the lesser charge of treasonable felony.
“This hypocritical attitude of some of you social commentators is indicative of the underlying pathological hatred you people have towards Igbos, which is largely driven by envy.
“Our question to those who claim to be social media practitioners is this, would you have supported a secret trial for your Chief Obafemi Awolowo?
“Within your predictable answer lies the reason why Nnamdi Kanu and his supporters don’t want anything to do with Nigeria.
“You are vindictive; spiteful race and cowards you are. Why are you in support of secret trial for Kanu? Do you now see how terrible saboteurs you are as human beings? May Chukwu Okike Abiama have mercy on you.”

The other day, a guy locked up his best friend who had decided to walk the path of injustice, corruption, violence, fornication, etc. and vowed before him saying, "I'll do everything in my power to put you back in the right track, even if it costs me our friendship". Crazy right! Now what would make people act in such crazy pattern. I mean what will make someone want to be called crazy. Ok! Here's another! A married man walked into his bed room all tired and sleepy. About entering the room he found his wife well cuddled by his close friend on his matrimonial bed. The married man quickly jumped on the friend, gave him some serious punches and chased him out of the house. Real Crazy! If you think that was really crazy then check this out! A king has a bunch of annoying citizens, one who know he loves like crazy... Having this knowledge, they went against every law he had enacted and broken all of them... The king got angry and decided to do something about it because the only penalty for the act of breaking his law is death. Now this was what the king decided to do, he disguised himself as one of the citizens and decided to take penalty for all their wrong doings blotting out their unjust doing... Now he did this so he as King will be unable to punish them again if he was to pass judgement! Making then free of all they had done and then adopted everyone of them that believed had been judged on a representative being the disguised king. Now I'd say this was the crazy of crazy! But this was actually the love story displayed in the holy Scriptures (agape). God as Jesus being the craziest person alive who is crazy about us....I just wanted you to know that God, Jesus is more crazy about you (check Romans 8 vs 38 to 39). And so, when I say that God loves you; I'm actually saying that God is crazy about you and everything you get involved with! Isn't that more like it.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has insisted that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will finish his career at Manchester United and not China or America.

The Swedish striker has been in great form for United and is their top scorer with 16 goals in 25 matches.

Mourinho has already said he will exercise the second-year option in his contract and added that even beyond that, his future is at Old Trafford.

“I’m really happy for him. Maybe some people thought he was a top scorer but not any more at 35 years old. But for him, 35 is the same as 25, Ligue 1 is the same as the Premier League,” Mourinho said.

Lampard hints he might return to play for Chelsea

 

 

Frank Lampard has hinted that he will return to Chelsea “in some capacity” very soon, but says he is not sure whether he is ready to stop playing.

Speculation surrounding the 38-year-old’s future increased this week, after he returned to Stamford Bridge to watch the current squad train.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, also says Lampard is not ready for a coaching role yet and wants to continue playing.

The player, who left New York City FC in November, however says he will only make a decision in the New Year.

“I’m still waiting for the five-year contract to come through from Chelsea, they haven’t called yet!” Lampard joked during an interview on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM programme. “We used to get those easily!

“Myself and John are Chelsea through and through. Whatever happens, in some capacity I will be at Chelsea, whether that’s with my season ticket watching them, but I don’t know.

“I will be in very close contact. Whether I have a role is not all in my hands so I can’t go any further than that. I am very relaxed about it, which is a nice place to be. I’m not kind of eager that the end of my career is coming and thinking, ‘What’s going to happen now?’

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has admonished state governors in the country to emulate their Ekiti State counterpart, Mr Ayodele Fayose, in standing up for and protecting the interest of their people.
He stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday at the palace of Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi 111.
The renowned cleric, visited the monarch before attending a crusade at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, described Governor Fayose as a great defender of his people and their cause.
Adeboye also commended Fayose for taking great risks to defend and pro‎tect the interests of his people.
‎”Your Excellency, we thank God for your life, courage, boldness and being willing to take the risk so that your people can be protected and I know you know what I am talking about.
You can be sure that we are praying for you and you will succeed.‎ I hope other governors will stand for their people like you and defend their people and say enough is enough‎,” Adeboye said.
Adeboye, who prayed for the restoration of the lost glory of Ekiti, also commended Oba Adejugbe for leading his people in the way of the Lord.
Earlier, Governor Fayose said Nigerians appreciate the efforts of Adeboye at taking the gospel round the world‎.
‎”We ‎know that it is at this time of the year that you go round and we pray that God strengthens you.
Your visit is annually and when a man of God passes by, we want to take that advantage for him to bless us.‎ We appreciate your efforts at taking the gospel round the world‎,” he said.
Oba Adejugbe also described Adeboye’s visit as a blessing to the palace, and the people of the state in general.

Christmas Eve: Three unidentified girls feared dead in ghastly motor accident in Effurun, Delta State

 


Three unidentified girls were yesterday feared dead in a ghastly motor accident along airport road in Effurun, near Warri, DAILY POST reports.
The three girls were on a journey to night club in a private car, “Spider” with the owner of the vehicle when the accident occurred.

It was gathered that the owner of the vehicle drove on a high speed while under the influence of alcohol and in the process rammed into a commercial tricycle, injuring its passengers before veering off his lane to another and summersaulted before hitting and destroying a commercial shop, leaving the three girls dead instantly with the head of one of the girls cut off while the car was badly shattered.
Immediately, men of the Nigeria Army on routine Patrol dashed into the area, handcuffed and whisked the driver away before men of the Nigeria  Police Force, Ugborikoko Divisional headquarters arrived the scene of the incident.

The incident caused serious tension in the area as residents scampered for  safety for fear not being arrested unlafully even to this time.
Contacted, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Andrew Aniamaka confirmed the report saying, “It is true my brother but it is a bad incident. Three persons died in the accident.
“The driver was drunk and he drove on high speed with the girls. I’m yet to get more details from the DPO Ugborikoko Division.
“When I’ m through,I  will get back to you. This is a great loss and I pray God to give the families involved the fortitude to bear the loss. Parents should control and know the whereabouts of their children. It is important because it will help to save our lives.”

Nigerian football will collapse in 2017 – Onigbinde laments

 

Former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, has warned those in charge of Nigeria’s football, to be ready to fix things going wrong in the sport or it will collapse in the New Year.
Onigbinde claimed football in the country was on the brink in 2016, but certain situations need to be addressed urgently.

“It was unbelievable that Nigerian football could scale through the year 2016 without crashing despite experiencing situations which had killed football in other places across the world,” the former Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) said.

“Those in charge of our football, failed totally in their responsibility to put the sport on its right pedestal, a lot of travesty and unpardonable mistakes, yet the resilience of the players of the national teams gave the country’s football a kind of lifeline.
“If this continues in the New Year, there is no way Nigeria would escape a collapse. The NFF recorded too many failures and crisis in one single year for it to remain standing, but care must be taken to avoid the country’s football not going down for the next four years.”

Niger Delta militants to attack Kaduna disguised as Fulani [Photos]

 


Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has assured that the law will soon catch up with those behind the crisis in the southern senatorial district.
He also said investigations had revealed plans to use Niger Delta militants to disguise as Fulanis to attack people in the zone.

El-Rufai said he was aware that politicians sponsoring the attacks were benefitting from the crisis and vowed that such persons would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
The governor further announced two military formations would be established the Southern part of the state.
El-Rufai disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministry of Defence and Chief of Army Staff had endorsed the request to site the military formations.

He said the proposed military formations would be in Fadan Karshi in Sanga and Kauru local government areas respectively to provide rapid response to acts of criminality.
Meanwhile, the state government has directed traditional rulers to caution their people against violence.
Deputy Governor, Barnabas Bala Bantex who represented El-rufai, said “I will like to assure our people that the present leadership in the state has no secret agenda of pursuing ethnic or religious agenda.
“The bandits killing people in southern Kaduna and states like Zamfara are not doing it based on religion. They are criminals”.
The meeting had in attendance the Emir of Zazzau, Emir of Kagaro, Emir of Birnin Gwari, Chief of Ninzo and Atta Adara, amongst others.

Why Buhari and Ministers Did Not Attend South-East Summit in Enugu

The reason why President Muhammadu Buhari and his ministers boycotted the South-East summit in Enugu State.

President Muhammadu Buhari did not attend the maiden South-East Economic and Security Summit in Enugu which he was supposed to declare open as the guest of honour. The event held in the Enugu State Government House.

 

However, the President missed the event after some pro-Biafra agitators warned him not to set foot on Igbo land as they threatened to protest.

 

The President and his ministers especially those from the South-East slated to make presentations at the event all stayed away from the event without any explanation. 

 

According to Punch, a pro-Biafran group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, had, in the build-up to the summit, issued a statement, warning Buhari to stay away from the South-East — in his own interest.

 

IPOB, whose leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is being held by the Federal Government, accused Buhari of “persecution”, and threatened “a breakdown of law and order” should the President attend the summit.

 

Although no mention of the IPOB warning was made throughout the opening session of the summit, Buhari’s absence was a major talking point as several speakers expressed surprise at the development.

 

Present at the ceremony, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in a presentation on “Sustainable development: Zero hunger,” said the South-East could become the food basket of the country if the various states collaborated to develop agriculture.

 

Obasanjo said, “We have a challenge of youth unrest which is understandable because these are young people who have education without employment, and skills without production. So, you should expect some agitation from them.

“We cannot leave these children. We must take responsibility.”

 

Also, Chairman of the South-East Security and Economic Summit, Prof. Barth Nnaji, who is a former minister of power noted the absence of the president.

 

“We have not seen the President.”

 

Also, at the beginning of his address, the chairman of the event, a former Commonwealth Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, drew attention to Buhari’s absence.

“I was going to start by saluting the representative of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but I have not been told of such a person,” the retired diplomat said.

 

Anyaoku went further to express regrets that Buhari was not present at the event.

 

Rounding off his address with a call for the restructuring of the country, he said, “I had hoped that Mr. President would be here to hear me.

“Like Cato, the Roman senator who always ended his speeches by calling for the destruction of Carthage until his call was heeded, I will restate my assertion that if the Nigerian federation is restructured to have less federating units, this country will achieve greater stability and faster pace of development, and there will no longer be a need for the Federal Government to bailout many of the non-viable 36 states.”

 

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, also complained why the organisers of the summit did not include his photograph and also did not list him among those to speak at the event. While speaking, Ekweremadu emphasized on the need to restructure the country, stressing that the current system was not working.

 

The Governors of Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi states, and the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, drew attention to challenges and opportunities in their various areas. Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was conspicuously absent and was not represented.

 

Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, urged the Federal Government to address the various challenges besetting the South-East, including the bad state of federal roads, the menace posed by herdsmen and the need to upgrade the runway and other infrastructure at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

 

Former Vice-President Alex Ekwueme was among the dignitaries at the summit.

Residents of Umudiopara-Ehime Mbano, Imo State were Thursday thrown into shock as a man, Gabon Iyiaka was caught while trying to plant charms in someone’s apartment.
Iyiaka, who hails from Umudiopara Umunakanu Owerri in Ehime Mbano lga, attempted to bury the charms at one Chief Marcel Nnodim’s house when he was caught.

An irate mob consequently stripped him naked and beat him to a pulp.
An Instagram user, C IG Iwunze shared the message on his page, saying: “The man you’re seeing here n*ked is Mr Gabon Iyiaka from Umudiopara Umunakanu Owerri in Ehime Mbano lga.
“He was caught with charm today at Chief Marcel Nnodim’s ( marley) house when he was attempting to plant the charm at Marley’s house in the same Umudiopara.
“Mr Gabon used the key his native doctor gave him to lock Chief Marley Nnodim’s house before he was caught.
“This same Gabon Iyiaka was caught sometime last year when he was naked at a mango tree at Umudiopara square bathing.
“This man was caught in Chief Marley’s house on 14th December 2016, he said he was doing what the holy spirit directed him to do.

“The case was postponed till during the Xmas. Just last night, this same man was caught again red handed doing the main thing, planting charms in the same chief Marley’s house.
“This man is evil right from my childhood. He deserve no pity.
“Thank God today is my village market day, you can guess what the youths are doing with him in the market.
“Chief Marley is a politician, philanthropist, a well known individual in Ehime Mbano but he has been finding it so difficult to eat for the past 2 years,” he added.
Reports say he was handed over to the Mbano Police Division but when DAILY POST contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the state, Andrew Enwerem, he said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
